Dear Davin,
Thanks for getting in touch with us regarding the project you are doing for school.
You must be a huge LEGO® fan if you chose to write about of for your assignment! I would be more than happy to answer all of the questions you have about our company!
Q: What is the bestselling Lego product?
As of right now, our best selling LEGO sets are in our Star Wars™ theme. Right behind that is our Ninjago sets, then the City theme.
Q: Personally, do you think that Lego can change the world?
Q: How do you think Lego has affected the world?
Q: Why do you think people like to buy Lego?
I personally do think that LEGO can change the world! As a LEGO builder, I'm sure you know that our huge selection of building and model sets offers unlimited possibilities. I think they inspire people young and old to create almost anything their imagination dreams up! I also think that is why people buy LEGO products. They can challenge your own personal creativity and inspire children all around the world. Did you know that there are 915 million ways to combine six LEGO® bricks?
Q: Do you believe that Lego is only something to play with?
I think LEGO bricks are more than just something to play with. I know that many companies use our products as part of training classes, or for models they need to build. As well, I think they make great decorations in homes! I personally have some of our Architecture sets as well as ones from our Creator themes scattered throughout my house!
Q: Why does the Lego group make so many different Lego products?
The LEGO Group creates so many different types of products because we want to try to have something that every single person around the world might enjoy. As you may know, we recently released the LEGO Friends line. There had been a demand from young girls wanting sets geared more towards them, so we created some! We really want to make sure there is something for everyone!
Q: What do you believe makes Lego such a successful product?
I think LEGO products are so successful due to our reputation for manufacturing excellence and having become trusted by our consumers. We believe in quality that speaks for itself and that earns us the recommendation of all.
Q: How do you think Lego has evolved ever since its creation?
Q: What are your thoughts about the invention of Lego?
The LEGO Group has evolved greatly since it was founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen. The company has passed from father to son and is now owned by Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, a grandchild of the founder. It has come a long way over the past 80 years - from a small carpenter’s workshop where wooden toys were made, to a modern, global enterprise that is now. In terms of sales, we are the world’s fourth-largest manufacturer of toys. Our products have undergone extensive development over the years – but the foundation remains the traditional LEGO brick. The brick in its present form was launched in 1958. I think it is so cool that when The LEGO Group was invented, it started out producing wooden toys! Who would have ever thought the sets we have today started out that way!
Q: What is your favourite Lego product?
Q: Did you like Lego when you were younger?
Q: Was becoming a member of the Lego group one of your first ideas for a job? Why or why not?
Q: How does it feel to work as a member of the Lego group?
Q: What is your job as a member of the Lego Group?
I was obsessed with LEGO sets when I was younger! My favorite sets have always been, and still are, from the Kingdoms theme. A small knight set was the first LEGO set I ever received when I was younger and I have loved them ever since. The LEGO Group itself has also been a huge part of my life since I was younger. My mother worked for the company for over 15 years, so I had always had a dream of working here as well. I knew what an amazing workplace it was to be a part of, and I couldn't be more excited that I am able to be working here now. I currently work as a Customer Care Advisor. That means I get to talk to huge LEGO fans like yourself everyday and answer any questions they may have! I think it is one of the best jobs in the world!
Q: If you could choose to make a new line of Lego, what would you make?
I was trying to think of a new LEGO theme I would like to see created, but I couldn't think of anything! We have such a wide variety of sets already that I couldn't come up with one of my own. We have a team of experts in Denmark whose job it is to dream up new LEGO sets, themes and toys. They tell me it actually takes years to plan everything. They need to test all the new ideas, talk to the factory about how to make them, work out what sort of box is needed and then deliver the new sets to all the shops in 130 countries! It is quite an amazing process, so I will leave coming up with new product ideas up the team of experts!
Q: Why do you think that companies such as warner bros. want to collaborate with Lego to create new Lego products (e.g. Lego harry potter, Lego star wars etc.)?
Q: It is said that Lego star wars products are expected to stop being produced by 2016, do you think that the demolishment of Lego star wars will impact Lego?
I am not quite sure why others chose to collaborate with us, such as LucasArts for our Star Wars™ sets, but I am sure glad they did! I wish I had a better answer for this question, but I honestly just do not know how these partnerships came about. As far as the LEGO Star Wars line being discontinued, unfortunately I do not have much more information about that either. We don't know when sets will stop being produced, but if it ever does become discontinued, I know the product line will be missed by many!
Q: If you were trying to convince somebody to buy a Lego product, what would you say to get them to buy it? > I think if I was trying to convince someone to buy a LEGO product, I would share with them all the information I just shared with you! I really think the LEGO products speak for themselves, and as soon as you have one, you will never want to stop building!
Davin, I hope all of the information answers the questions you had. If you do need anything else, just replay back. We would be more than happy to help again! Good luck on your assignment!
